Behind the Navis
Introducing creator Missy Washington
I’m Missy Washington—a historian, museum professional, graphic designer, and activist dedicated to exploring the intersections of creativity, education, and social change. With a background in history and museum studies, I’m passionate about uncovering stories that matter, preserving cultural heritage, and making history accessible to all.
As a graphic designer and digital artist, I use visual storytelling to bring ideas to life, whether through designing compelling campaigns, creating virtual exhibitions, or crafting artwork that inspires action. My activism is rooted in the belief that art and history are powerful tools for advocacy, capable of sparking dialogue and driving meaningful change.
At The Navis Collective, I combine my expertise in research, education, and design to collaborate on projects that inform, empower, and connect. Whether you’re looking to explore history in innovative ways, design a meaningful visual campaign, or collaborate on a cause, you’re in the right place.
Let’s navigate uncharted waters together.

The Legacy We Leave
Exploring my current research project, "Echoes of Freedom"
Through my recent research and project on Freedmen, I explore the rich, complex histories of formerly enslaved individuals and their descendants, emphasizing their resilience, achievements, and contributions to society.
This work delves into untold stories, shining a light on forgotten voices and creating a deeper understanding of their historical significance. My goal is to make these narratives accessible to a broader audience, fostering education, awareness, and dialogue about this pivotal chapter in history."
